Changes to Adgitize Earnings Calculations!
Posted by kexbrown on March 29, 2009
Adgitize is making changes to the earnings calculations which will increase growth and revenues for active publishers.
Earn $25 a Month
When I started Adgitize, I envisioned an opportunity for the top active publishers to be earning in the range of $25 to $100 a month. Well, if you have been near the top of the Leaderboard for any length of time you know that you currently don’t earn anywhere near that much. That is changing for the better!
When I was planning the structure and possibilities within Adgitize I was making certain business decisions based on assumptions I perceived within the ad marketplace. I was reading forums which led me to believe there was a niche for what Adgitize has to offer. I was right. In fact recent changes within Entrecard and Cmfads proved I was 100% right.
But, during my planning and market analysis I was terribly wrong on the number of advertisers that would be interested in this market niche. I had concluded from talking to other advertisers and publishers that there would be a 6 to 1 ratio of publishers to advertisers. Well, it wasn’t even close.
After 5 months in the ad marketplace I have real world numbers to make decisions. I have decided to restructure the earnings report to take into account these actual numbers of publishers to advertisers.
So, starting with points earned on April 1st, you will see a big change in what you earn. Now, many things are staying the same. There is still a maximum of 500 points available on any given day. There are still advertiser bonuses available. The point system isn’t changing, only the amount of money you earn from those points. But, all the earnings are still based on the total points in the system and the total revenue earned from the advertisers.
New Guidelines Equal More Money
Here is a very loose guideline to predict your earnings. If you are scoring 300 points to 500 points on a daily basis then you will see earnings from $15 to $35 a month. Publishers scoring 100 points to 299 points daily will see monthly earnings from $1 to $10 a month. If you are scoring less than 100 points a day your earnings will be less than $1 a month.
Now these are ball park numbers still dependent upon the revenue available from advertisers. These numbers will be much lower if we only have 25 advertisers and much higher if we have 200 advertisers. These current predictions are based on an advertiser base between 50 and 75 advertisers a month.
If everyone earns 300 points a day then these earnings figures will go down. But, real world dynamics don’t predict this to be a problem.
I thank you all for your participation within the Adgitize Ad Network. I know many of you were disappointed in the amount of money you were making each month. This change will correct many of those issues. I encourage you to stay involved and do the steps necessary to earn 300 points a day in the coming months.
I have to tell you, I am very excited about this change. Members that were wondering how they could afford to advertise next month now have an answer. Most advertisers are near the top of the leaderboard. Of course, because you receive an advertiser’s bonus each day. Well now you will earn enough to pay for the ad and a little extra on top.
Publishers who are active with regular articles, visiting advertisers, and decent traffic will be well rewarded with these new earnings calculation.

Thanks for the comments, I think this is a huge win for publishers and believe it or not a big win for advertisers, too. Why a win for the advertisers? Because these changes will bring more publishers into the marketplace. Your ad will be seen by more people and the prices within the Adgitize Ad Network are the best in the industry.

I have tried everything and the most points I have ever gotten in a day was 400. What are the secrets to getting even close to 500 points.
I have never been able to get over 50 clicks regardless of how I go about it.
I believe I was top point getter in february and made $8.02.
I find myself spending about 30 minutes a day clicking on the icons.
Tell me the details of how I am going to make more money.
I only find about 47 advertisers at this time.
I want to be positive. You need me as much as I need you.
How about decreasing your advertising costs.

Well thank you for the questions. I think many people will benefit from the answers. To begin with you are number 3 on the Leaderboard as of March 30th. I don’t think that will change before the end of the month.
Without looking up the information in the database, I would guess you are due to earn about $6 or so for the month of March. That is nothing and probably not worth your time. I suspect you are getting good traffic, but you have to pay for that traffic right now.
So far this isn’t a win – win situation. You have other places to go where you can work just as hard to get the traffic you need without paying the $14.
But, in the world of internet advertising $14 is a good price to pick up 1500 clicks in a month. And, even if they don’t spend a lot of time on your site, I suspect some of them have become huge fans of yours. Myself included.
It is interesting that Ahkong thinks I should raise the price to $18 and you want me to lower the price.
But, I am going to keep the price the same. It’s a fair price and it is a good value for the advertisers. What I have done is changed the payout structure. Even though you will earn the same number of points each month, the amount of money available to the top producers will be higher.
More money available means more money in your pocket at the end of the month. For now you don’t have much to go on other than me spouting a few words. You won’t really see the effect until April 3rd when the first earnings report for April appears.
Quite frankly, I do need you. I think you are a very positive force in the Adgitize world. Until April 3rd you have to trust me when you can see for yourself the positive the new calculations will have on your earnings.
I took a look at your points and you do pretty well in most categories. Our system is built on 5 categories of points. Article points, member click points, Advertisers points, blog Ad views and blog page views. Nobody can score more than 100 points in each category.
Willy scores 300 points most days in the first 3 categories. Then you have ad views and page views where you score another 100 points combined. It appears you are pretty much maximizing your point potential in the ad views and page views without getting more traffic.
I know that You Can Learn Series gets a lot of points for the page views and ad views but they get over 300,000 visitors every year. But, this system balances that out, because they don’t write articles as often as you do.
Nobody in our system is scoring 500 points. I would be very surprised if it ever happens; at least not regularly. I won’t say it can’t happen. But you would definitely have to be a player.
I would ballpark that someone scoring 400 points in one day in April is going to earn a daily revenue between 80 cents and $1 given our current group of advertisers.
I will make this promise to you Willy! If you do the same thing in April that you did in March, score above 300 most days, have some days at 400 and even some days in the 200’s; I am willing to promise you will make over $25 for the month of April. I will back up that promise by paying you $50 if you don’t reach that amount.
The only requirement on your part is that you renew your ad when it comes due and that you score over 9000 points for the month. I think you will have a couple of days to see how you are doing on the earnings report before your ad expires.
To make this a win – win for you, if you score 9000 points and earn $25 for the month I will give you a free ad in May. How is that for a cost reduction?

Hi there. I just signed up to be a new advertiser. Yay! I will echo the comments made here by HillBillyWilly that it is difficult to find many ads to click on in one day. I think I am at 47 right now for today …
After reading this blog posting, I thought it a good time to jump on the band-wagon of Adgitize. I have been a publisher since February 2009. Thought I’d give it a shot and try out advertising for a month.
Regarding the price … my payment converts from CAD so it cost me $18 something (which is $14 USD). I would like to see the price remain as is for now. I probably wouldn’t have considered becoming an advertiser if the price were too much higher … at least until I see some benefit from it!

Hi
I heard on the Entrecard forum that this site pays someone nearly a dollar a day for having three ads so I thought that is better than Project Wonderful are doing at the moment so I have signed up and put your ads on my page and on our Creative Cafe Main page (Creative Cafe is a social network for everything creative including writing blogs and supports people with disabilities. Each member has their own webpage)
After a while I found out about clicking on up to 100 ads a day to get points and have done some of them. I find my page views and ad views are building up. But I can’t find a way to do the rss for the articles as the ning system doesn’t seem to go with yours. So that is 100 points a day I can’t earn. And I havn’t paid for advertising yet because I don’t know this system and also didn’t understand the form to fill in to advertise.
So that is another 100 points I can’t get a day. That seems to mean I can earn up to 300 points a day but I am unlikely to get the whole 300. That means for having loads of your adverts on my sites I’m likely to earn not a dollar a day but between $1 and $10s a month according to your post above. I really don’t think I can justify the time it will take going to 100 sites a day for that! I already do loads of entrecard drops and that takes ages as well! Also having loads more adverts up does look quite intrusive.
Have I understood this points system you have? I know I have only just joined so am new to it all. But at the moment the deal seems to be much less than the $1 a day I read about plus it entails the work and time of clicking on lots of sites.
Am I understanding this right?

Hi Jill, Thank you for being a member of Adgitize and a publisher. Welcome! We don’t guarantee any income for any month. The money available for payout is dependent upon the number of advertisers.
One publisher with high traffic will score more ad view and page view points than a publisher with low traffic. So, just showing three ads is not a guarantee that you will do as well as someone else.
I would say if you are doing something right now and you are earning 200 points a day, then you may want to become an advertiser, because that will increase your points by a minimum of 100 points. There is also an advertiser multiplier on your ad views and page views.
The last three days publishers scoring more than 300 points a day are earning more than 70 cents USD a day. You will have to decide if that is enough to offset the effort, time and initial expense to participate at that level.
But, participate at the level you are comfortable. What is great about this system is you choose your level of involvement. To me it is more important that you be blogging, writing great content, interacting with members of the blogosphere and growing your blog. The rest will come at a pace you dictate.

Hi
Thanks for your reply.
I think I don’t really understand your points system. For example on the reports page so far today it says:
Total Page Views Earned Today from All Blogs: 807
Blog Name Blog URL Page Views
Jill’s Creative Cafe Page http://creativecafe.ning.com/profile/Dickens 129
Creative Cafe http://creativecafe.ning.com 678
and
Total Ad Views Earned Today for All Blogs: 3523
Blog Name Blog URL Ad Views
Jill’s Creative Cafe Page http://creativecafe.ning.com/profile/Dickens 759
Creative Cafe http://creativecafe.ning.com 2764
So can you tell me how those numbers translate into points? How many adviews and page views do you need to make 100 points a day. Bearing in mind I only joined today around lunchtime (uk time) have I got enough page views and ad views to make your 100 points for each category? If not how many have we got?
The next thing is it says I did 40 visits. Well I did about 40 going around with Entrecard clicks at the same time and then I ran out of your ads to click on. So I did visits from your list which should have made it up to nearly 100 if not 100. But it is only showing 40.
So I am wondering what is happening there?
The next thing is the RSS. You seem to have RSS at the bottom of this which is linked to the Creative Cafe Mainpage site. That shows the latest 10 blogs written by our members. Does that count in your system as articles written even though they are not all written by me? And does that mean I can put it on your system? If so how? And I think I have RSS on my Jill’s Creative Cafe Page as well but don’t know where it is! I am pretty technically clueless for someone who is volunteer organiser of a network sorry. And I am usually posting something new every few days rather than every day so won’t get the points for that anyway.
Which leaves me with the last category for earning points which is buying an ad. I did look at the page for buying an ad but you can’t just browse your computer for your pic and load it in as I am used to doing can you. You have to do something with an url and I don’t understand what that something is. If we decide to advertise then I’ll have to read it up in more detail.
But before deciding I’d like to know how we are doing in the first three categories in terms of points so far and in the details regarding the RSS feeds.
I am not against putting in an advert with your system but I need to be sure about the costs and benefits.
We are only a small charitable group run by and supporting people with mental health and other disabilities and I am just finding ways of paying the hosting and other costs without having to rely on donations.
I hope you understand why I am being cautious and want to understand your system.
Regards
Jill

@Jill – I am sorry but your comment above got caught up in the wrong folder. But, cheers I found it!
The points system is based on a sliding scale from 1 to 100 for ad views and page views. You have to remember that you are competing with blogs that are getting 1 million page views a year. The sliding scale actually makes it possible for you to compete somewhat with these more popular blogs.
The reason we have 5 categories of points is to help the smaller blogs compete with the more popular blogs. A person who has a popular blog and has been around for a number of years is going to have 300,000 visitors or so a year. So, that blogger will score high for page views or ad views. Good for them.
So, how can a smaller blog compete? They can write more articles per week. Maybe the large blogger is writing once or twice a week. So, they will score an additional 100 to 200 points each week. The smaller / newer blogger can write everyday. They earn 100 points each day. That helps offset the extra points that a larger blog might earn from their ad views and page views.
We determine the articles you write based on your rss feeds. You have to provide us that information in the members lounge under the manage blogs section.
The other way a smaller blogger can compete is to visit our advertisers and read their blogs everyday. Each daily visit to an “advertiser” is worth one point. Now, we are a young advertising firm and we only have about 50 members advertising at this time. So, you can only visit 50 ads a day. But, that is okay, because if you visit all of them you still earn 100 points for the day.
As far as you visiting more links from the blogs not visited list. That list is just a way for publishers who are clicking ads to find more publishers within the Adgitize ad network. You don’t receive any points for clicking a publisher from the “blogs not visited list” but you do earn points after you click on one of the advertisers ads found on one of those blogs.
Finally, for those members looking to get more exposure for their blog, you can advertise within our system. There is a fee to advertise so you need to determine the profitability of advertising compared to the cost.
But, the 5th and final category of points is for advertising. Again you can score 100 points for this category plus to encourage more members to advertise we also provide a bonus for advertiser’s ad views and page views.
I hope this answers most of your questions. It isn’t an easy system to understand the first time you are exposed to it. But, I think after you have been involved a few days it begins to make sense and you can determine how you can maximize value from it.
Jill said,
Hi again
Ok thanks again for your reply and I now see we will never get 100 points for page views and ad views because we don’t have enough traffic. Plus I am having trouble with the RSS feed as I don’t understand what to do! So that seems to me the only way I can gain points is to visit the advertiser blogs and advertise ourselves and even then because of our ‘low’ traffic we still wouldn’t get that many points.
I am going to leave it up for the moment and see how things go but at the moment I have the feeling we will never be able to earn enough points to justify paying for an advert. I may be wrong but that’s the way it looks so far.
Thanks for your helpful replies anyway.

@Jill – You have more traffic than I do, so I bet you could easily hit the 100 points marker for your pageviews and adviews. You will likely find that it is worth advertising … but keep in mind the formula used to calculate your earnings changes based on your earning bracket (0-100 points, 100-200 points, 200-300 points, etc).
Regarding your RSS feed – go to your “manage blogs” link above on the adgitize site. then click edit and paste your RSS “feed” (aka address) into the box. This will set you up so you can begin earning your article points.

I’m glad to hear that Adgitize is making improvements! I only just signed up, but I like it so far. Depending on how much I earn, I might try some advertising next month as well. Is advertising only open to blogs, or can I advertise my shop as well?
One suggestion I have is to make the number of points you are getting more clear and easily accessible. I guess it’s somewhere around the ‘reports’ section of the site but I can’t really find it yet. I’m not sure. Would it be possible to put it up on top of the page or something? ‘X points earned so far today’, just so we have an easy idea of what we’re getting.
Also I have a question. If you click on all the ads for the day, we get 100 points. If we click on, for example, 49/50 ads for the day, do we get 98 points? Is that how it works?
Thank you

Yes you may advertise your shop on the Adgitize Ad Network.
I like the idea about placing your daily click points in a more easily accessible location. We will see what we can do to implement that idea.
Here is the trick about the click points. If there are only 50 ads available and you click on 50 ads you score 100 points. If you only click on 49 ads then you score 49 points. Unless you are an advertiser in which case you can double your daily click points. We encourage all our members to also be advertisers.
If you are serious about getting traffic and earning blogging revenue, I highly recommend you become an advertiser and be active as a blogger (write articles) and check out our advertiser’s sites everyday.

Why there is so much of controversy in your reports.

@Anisha – The reason your reports show that you haven’t earned any points from April 15 to April 21st is because you blogs had been turned off during that time due to rules infringement.
Your total ad views and page views are converted to points on a sliding scale within our system. You cannot score more than 100 points in each of those categories. You are competing with blogs that receive 500,000 page views a year or more. This system allows you to compete with them.
We only count pages where you show the Adgitize Ad Groups.
