Hi all, do you live in the Chicago Area? The reason I ask is because there is a beta test trial occurring in Elk Grove Village between now and July 4th. What’s on trial?

It is Robo Basho. The fun and exciting robot arcade game with state of the art patented technology. What does it mean by beta test trial? Well the inventor, Joseph Johnson, has created an exciting new arcade game. It has been under development for 5 years.
Dr. Joe Johnson, (my brother in law), has many patents to his name in the auto industry, but this game is something really different. It is unlike any other arcade game you have played and uses brand new technology invented just for this game.
Dr. Joe has been a major influence in US First robotics education for years. But, this time it isn’t for educational purposes it is for fun. Us First is an educational robotics competition to encourage high school students to choose engineering as a profession. Teaming up with major corporations, active engineers and high school enthusiasm Dr. Joe has led high school teams to the championships.

But, back to Robo Basho. Defined as a “king of the hill” type game or similar to a Sumo wrestling match it pits your intelligence, quickness and 2 to 3 robots against your friends. Do you have what it takes to achieve victory by pushing your opponent off the mat? Here is what Robo Basho looked like 2 years ago and the game is even better now.
Now why is this interesting to Chicago area residents? Because Robo Basho is getting a trial in a local Elk Grove Village Bar, Real Time Sports Bar on West Devon Ave. I am excited because I haven’t had a chance to play it for a year and a half and I know that Joe has made improvements and it is a more exciting play. This is the test to see if it is ready to be a prime time player in the world of arcade games.

Think you want to play? Then head on down to Real Time Sports Bar and give it a try Only in Elk Grove Village and only for about 2 weeks in 2009. After you play then leave a comment here, good or bad. Let Dr. Joe know what you think about the game. Is it too easy or too hard? Did you get enough play time for your dollar? Is it hard to understand the rules? Is it fun? Did you play once and stop or did you keep playing? Was it working or was it broken? How would you improve the game?
According to Joe, “The Robo Basho trial should run 2 or 3 weeks, but predictions are difficult, especially about the future. So, if you are thinking about it, I suggest heading over there sooner rather than later… …why not right now? Come early, stay late.”
