Adgitize Preferred Publishers List Gives Publishers More Exposure
Posted by kexbrown on September 2, 2009
Adgitize is introducing the Preferred Publishers List. This list will highlight our publishers who are showing the Adgitize Ad Group in a preferred location on their blog.
Who is Eligible for the Preferred Publisher Program?
All publishers are eligible for the program, but there are a couple of things you need to do to qualify for the program. You must show an Adgitize Ad Group no less than one scroll bar click below the fold. This is based on a screen resolution of 1024 X 768 px. Why do we require this rule? Our advertisers would like the best visibility possible to their ads. As a preferred publisher you are guaranteeing our advertisers preferred positioning on your blog. We expect the landing page of a preferred publisher to be a blog page. It cannot be a sales page. It cannot be a page of links. It must be a page with content. And finally the landing page should be fast loading.
Rules to Be A Preferred Publisher
- At Least One Adgitize Ad Group Must be Above the Fold or one Scroll Bar Click below the Fold
- Fast Loading Page
- Landing Page Must be a Blog Page
Why Should I Want My Blog to be a Preferred Publisher?
The preferred publishers will be shown in two places on the Adgitize site. Your blog will have a link on the Preferred Publisher List shown next to the Community Button. Any visitor to Adgitize will have an opportunity to see who our publishers are. You will get traffic from random visitors checking out the Adgitize Opportunity.
You will also see your publisher link in the Blogs Not Clicked Today list in the Member’s Lounge. The Preferred Publishers List will be replacing the Blogs Not Clicked list so members clicking Adgitize Ads will be using this “Preferred List” of fast loading above the fold Adgitize Ad groups.
Is There a Fee for this Program?
There are two options. You can pay a monthly fee or you can utilize the FREE Option. How do you qualify for the FREE option? It is actually very easy. All you have to do is for any 4 day period score 300 Adgitize Ad Click points. Then you can see your blog in the Preferred Publisher List.
Am I automatically in the Preferred Publisher list with the FREE option? NO. You must sign up for the free option.
If you don’t have time to click on Adgitize Advertiser Ads then you can qualify for the Preferred Publisher list by paying a small monthly fee. There are 3 payment options, monthly, quarterly or a monthly subscription option.
Are Adgitize Points Awarded?
You can earn additional Adgitize Advertiser points by being an Adgitize Preferred Publisher. If you choose the Free Option Preferred Publisher then you will score an additional 10 points a day each day you qualify for the FREE option. Paid preferred publishers can earn an additional 25 points a day.
You can only have 1 FREE preferred publisher in this program per member. You may have multiple blogs in the list for paid Preferred Publishers. Why not add a link for each of your blogs in Adgitize?
How Do I Sign Up for the Preferred Publishers List?
Go to the Manage Blogs section of the Members Lounge. Then if you want to create a new Preferred Publisher then choose “Add Preferred Publisher” for one of your blogs. Then follow the simple instructions.
This is a great opportunity for publishers to get exposure in the Adgitize Network.

this is an interesting way to encourage better placement of ad groups, visiting more blogs consistently and then earn additional points =]
just a question: does the publisher wanting to be a preferred publisher using the FREE/nonpaid option have to have three hundred click points in a four-day period prior to initial approval or after initial approval?
thanks!
kexbrown said,
@Ian – You can sign up immediately whether you qualify at the 300 clicks currently or not. This is managed at the server level and there will be days where some publishers may not qualify due to vacations or illness. The publishers will drift in and out of the list based on their ability to click on any given day or days.
Sign up now. Make some clicks and we’ll see you on the list in 3 days or so.

At what screen resolution?
kexbrown said,
@Brad – That is an excellent question as I think that has been a sticking point for a couple of members this morning. The answer is a screen resolution of 1024 X 768 px.

So I am clear on the requirement, please answer the following question. Which of these three imaginary bloggers–given their last four days–would qualify for the free option?
A. 310, 320, 330, 340 (each day over 300 points)
B. 320, 320, 290, 320 (average over 300 points)
C. 80, 80, 70, 80 (total over 300 points)
Thank you.
kexbrown said,
@Tyson – Good question. The key is Click points. You aren’t able to score more than 100 click points in a day so the only valid imaginary blogger is C.
It is 300 click points over a 4 day period.
100, 100, 0, 100 would qualify.
Hope this helps.

Is the list going to be limited is some way? (e.g. number per day) Or if everyone who qualifies and applies ill automatically be included in the list?
kexbrown said,
@Plin – Any qualified member blog is eligible. Remember the Free Option is limited to one preferred publisher per member. Even though we have a couple of thousand active members only about 100 are currently working hard enough to qualify for a free preferred publisher link.
The list is randomly generated from all approved publishers and we only show about 20 at a time.

This is interesting. When I have a bit more free time I might apply for it. When you say one scroll bar click, do you mean one click of the arrow on the scroll bar, or one full page-down below the fold?
kexbrown said,
@Joy – When I click the scroll bar it normally is a one full page move. Different than clicking the arrows on the scroll bar. So, yes one full page below the fold on a 1024 X 768 px resolution screen.

First I would like to say I really like the recent changes. I’m still a bit confused with the one page rule. I’m using Camino so when I load a page if I click and hold the scroll bar it takes me to the end of the page. If I click on the arrows in the scroll bar it just moves down as far as I want. There’s no setting in the preferences to make it scroll one page. So how can I tell if the widget is within one full page move? I moved the widget on one of my blogs for the free incentive but want to add my other blogs as paid links without having to modify my layouts a lot.
kexbrown said,
The one page scroll click would be the same as clicking the Page Down button once.
On the scroll bar you can click between the scroll control and the arrows at the top and bottom. If you click that section then you will get a one page scroll. So, not the scroll bar and not the arrows but the scrolling area where the scroll bar goes up and down.
I don’t know if I explained this well or not, so don’t hesitate to ask more questions.

Are current advertisers also considered publishers? If so and I believe my site is qualified in the three (3) criteria, do I still need to or can I apply to be a Preferred Publisher? If approved as such, am I correct that my advertising fee will be US$8.00 instead of the current US$15.00 per month?
kexbrown said,
@EdZee – That is a great question. The Preferred Publisher Program is a separate program than the Adgitize Banner Ads. An Adgitize Ad that displays on all the publisher blogs in the Adgitize Network has a fee of $14 a month. Your banner ad will be shown randomly on literally thousands of blogs a day.
The Preferred Publisher program is a link to publishers that meet certain criteria. Your link to your blog is only shown on the Adgitize web site. That is why the price is lower because it will get much less exposure than an Adgitize Banner Ad.
Purchasing a link in the Preferred Publisher program will not give you any discounts with your Adgitize Banner Ad.

Thanks for the reply, Ken. Now, I understand better what Preferred Publisher Program is.
EdZee said,
Sorry, I need to ask more questions about Preferred Publishers. I thought I understood everything already until I had one of my blogs listed as such yesterday.
After signing up my other blog as a Preferred Publisher on Free Option, I made sure that I surfed at least 75 sites (the average for 4 days to make the 300 points) of Adgitize advertisers and I did get the additional 10 points in my Advertiser’s Points (made 110 points actually).
My question is . . . Is that really the way to maintain my Free Preferred Publisher status? If so, can “Total Publisher Clicks Earned Today” be modified to show, say 76 instead of stopping at 51 as it is now?
kexbrown said,
@EdZee – Ask as many questions as you need to make sure you understand the program.
I think I see where the confusion lies. As an advertiser you only have to click 51 ads to reach 100 click points. So, as you are clicking along you reach 51 clicks and the little blue bar at the bottom of the Adgitize Ad Groups say you have 100 click points.
When you look at your reports section “Total Publisher Clicks Earned Today” that report is showing the proper number of actual clicks of 51. But, you don’t worry about that because you are an advertiser and you know it translates into 100 click points.
For the Preferred Publisher program the key is this little quote, “All you have to do is for any 4 day period score 300 Adgitize Ad Click points. ”
So, don’t worry so much about the actual clicks. As an advertiser you can stop at 51 and you will earn 100 Adgitize Click points in a day. If you were to stop at 40 then you would have about 80 Adgitize Click Points in a day.
Hopefully this helps.

Thanks again, Ken. As usual, your explanation answered my question. I shall let you know if I have more questions.
By the way, how I wish you will have the time to fix CommentLuv.
