Changes to Adgitize Earnings Calculations!

Posted by kexbrown on March 29, 2009

Adgitize is making changes to the earnings calculations which will increase growth and revenues for active publishers.

Earn $25 a Month

When I started Adgitize, I envisioned an opportunity for the top active publishers to be earning in the range of $25 to $100 a month. Well, if you have been near the top of the Leaderboard for any length of time you know that you currently don’t earn anywhere near that much. That is changing for the better!

When I was planning the structure and possibilities within Adgitize I was making certain business decisions based on assumptions I perceived within the ad marketplace. I was reading forums which led me to believe there was a niche for what Adgitize has to offer.  I was right. In fact recent changes within Entrecard and Cmfads proved I was 100% right.

But, during my planning and market analysis I was terribly wrong on the number of advertisers that would be interested in this market niche. I had concluded from talking to other advertisers and publishers that there would be a 6 to 1 ratio of publishers to advertisers. Well, it wasn’t even close.

After 5 months in the ad marketplace I have real world numbers to make decisions. I have decided to restructure the earnings report to take into account these actual numbers of publishers to advertisers.

So, starting with points earned on April 1st, you will see a big change in what you earn. Now, many things are staying the same. There is still a maximum of 500 points available on any given day. There are still advertiser bonuses available. The point system isn’t changing, only the amount of money you earn from those points. But, all the earnings are still based on the total points in the system and the total revenue earned from the advertisers.

New Guidelines Equal More Money

Here is a very loose guideline to predict your earnings. If you are scoring 300 points to 500 points on a daily basis then you will see earnings from $15 to $35 a month. Publishers scoring 100 points to 299 points daily will see monthly earnings from $1 to $10 a month. If you are scoring less than 100 points a day your earnings will be less than $1 a month.

Now these are ball park numbers still dependent upon the revenue available from advertisers. These numbers will be much lower if we only have 25 advertisers and much higher if we have 200 advertisers. These current predictions are based on an advertiser base between 50 and 75 advertisers a month.

If everyone earns 300 points a day then these earnings figures will go down. But, real world dynamics don’t predict this to be a problem.

I thank you all for your participation within the Adgitize Ad Network. I know many of you were disappointed in the amount of money you were making each month. This change will correct many of those issues. I encourage you to stay involved and do the steps necessary to earn 300 points a day in the coming months.

I have to tell you, I am very excited about this change. Members that were wondering how they could afford to advertise next month now have an answer. Most advertisers are near the top of the leaderboard. Of course, because you receive an advertiser’s bonus each day. Well now you will earn enough to pay for the ad and a little extra on top.

Publishers who are active with regular articles, visiting advertisers, and decent traffic will be well rewarded with these new earnings calculation.

Are You Logged In?

Posted by kexbrown on March 20, 2009

I received an email from a member yesterday expressing concern about collecting Adgitize click points. This member had been visiting sites and assumed that everything was fine. Unfortunately, the member’s cookie had expired and they were no longer logged in.

This has happened to me in the past and I know how frustrating that can be! So, we put in a quick fix which I hope will make everyone happy.

There is a new way to see if you are logged in or not. Adgitize Me Not Logged In If you see this green image at the bottom of the Adgitize Ad Groups, then you are NOT logged in.

How do you resolve the problem? Easy! Just click the login button on the Adgitize web site and you are back!

What will you see if you are logged in? Adgitize Me Blue You will see a blue banner at the bottom of the Adgitize Ad Group. It might say “Adgitize Me” or it will give some indicator of how many drops you have made today. It can say, “Adgitize 5″ meaning you have clicked on 5 ads today and it goes on to Adgitize 10, 15, 25, 40 and 60 and higher.

Once you see 100 then you are done visiting sites for today. (Well, you can keep clicking ads if you like but you won’t be rewarded by Adgitize.)

Let me know how you like this new change.

Branding Your Blog

Posted by kexbrown on March 17, 2009

There are many reasons to advertise your blog. To gain new readers, to sell a product, to introduce a new item or a new person. But, today I want to touch on branding and how it relates to blogging.

Branding is defined as,

“the use of a name, term, symbol or design or a combination of these to identify a product.”

This is the definition from the college text “Basic Marketing” by McCarthy and Perreault.

When I think of branding I think of having a symbol of your company remind consumers of your product. As an example, the Coke or CocaCola brand red can or red symbol with white letters brings a memory of a specific taste when I see their symbol.

You Want Customers to Remember Your Blog

Branding isn’t necessarily trying to get people to buy your product the moment you see the brand mark. But, you want potential customers to remember your product. When they do enter a store you want them to see your product and brand and to feel comfortable with your product to make it a choice.

But, it isn’t just about products. Politicians are constantly trying to create a brand. A brand which might change after the primary elections. They may attempt to win their primary election by catering to people leaning toward liberalism and socialism. Then after they win the primary they attempt to change their brand image to a more moderate stance to gain more moderate votes.

Make Your Blog A Brand

You can even make your blog a brand. When you create your little 125 pixel by 125 pixel ad and place it on the Adgitize Network you are in essence branding your blog. As people wander the internet they see your brand image and have positive or negative connotations associated with that image.

In the blogosphere it is important to create brand recognition. You want them to see your banner ad and to remember your blog when they see the image. This is why regular advertising is so important. They say a person needs to see an advertisement 13 times before they remember it and possibly act on what they see.

As readers are visiting other blogs if they see your brand image enough and they have a positive experience when they visit your blog then they will be reminded to visit your blog again. If given a choice among two brands one they are familiar with and the other which they have no recognition of, people usually choose the brand they know.

Branding and Excellent Content

That’s why politicians send you wave after wave of direct mail ads. They want you to remember their names when you step inside that voting booth. They are searching for brand familiarity with you. Why do some blogs get more traffic than others? Well, I would be lying if I said it was ONLY branding. You still need to have excellent content that entertains, informs and educates. But, there is something to be said for being a regular old shoe where people like to hang out.

One of the frequent advertisers on the Adgitize Ad Network is a blog known as Hillbilly Willy. Willy has done a terrific job of branding his blog. Willy starts with a cartoon character that reinforces our perception of someone that might be called a hillbilly. But, then they continue the branding in the blog itself. No attempt is made to sound sophisticated or even to write proper English. But, Willy informs us and definitely entertains. Willy has branded his blog and when you click on the ad you already know what to expect.

What is Your Perception of Continuity?

How about your blog? Is there a simple cartoon character or beautiful image that makes your blog easy to identify? Once the visitor reaches your blog is the perception of continuity extended to the articles you write? To you get your brand the visibility it needs to attract readers?

I highly recommend advertising in the Adgitize Ad Network to gain brand recognition, because of the methodology we use to display ads. Since we have random rotations of ads then your ad is constantly popping up and making your blog known throughout our publisher network.

How well is your blog brand known and recognized? Do other bloggers look at your ad and think, oh I know exactly what that blog is about and I am interested to see what she has written today? Brand recognition will go a long way to getting you the long term traffic you are interested in for your blog. Tell us your thoughts on branding a blog in the comments section.

We are on the verge of breaking 8 million ad views shown for the last 30 days. Adgitize Members, A Singaporean in London – C K and Borzack – Healthy Lifestyle think we are going to hit the 10 million ad views served any day now. So, it was suggested that we have a contest. See the original Forum Article.

Here are the prizes:

  • First Prize: $25 Cash USD and a one month ad on Adgitize
  • Second Prize: a one month ad on Adgitize
  • Third Prize: a one month ad on Adgitize

How do you win?

Leave a comment on this article. In your comment you MUST tell us 2 things.

  1. What DATE do you think the Total Ad Views Shown Last 30 Days indicator will show 10,000,000 or more?
  2. What TIME of day will it reach 10,000,000 ad views shown? This will be in CHICAGO TIME.

A successful entry will look like: I think it will be March 1st, 2009 at 10 AM.

The First prize Winner will be the person who is closest to the date and time without being past it. This means if it were to click over 10 million on March 1st, 2009 at 10 AM your entry will have to say sometime BEFORE that date and time. (March 1st, 2009 at 9AM would qualify.)

The Second and Third prize winners will be randomly drawn from all entries.

You may enter up to 3 times.

The winning entry MUST be entered as a comment at least 3 days before the counter exceeds 10 million. This means if it were to click over 10 million on March 1st, 2009 at 10 AM you will have to leave your entry as a comment to this article no later than February 26, 2009 at 10 AM.

You do not have to be a member of Adgitize to win (though we would like for you to be.) All dates and times are for Chicago time.

I really don’t have a clue when this might occur. It might be next week or next month or two months from now. The Adgitize Ad Network has over 1200 members representing 2000 blogs. Some of the blogs are displaying one ad others are displaying up to 10 ads. Some get less than 10 views a day while others are displaying nearly 5000 page views a day. 68 Active advertisements keep the database busy serving ads to the entire network. So, take a chance and guess. You have nothing to lose – it only takes a moment and who knows, You Might Win.

The contest officially closes the moment the Ad View indicator changes to 10 million ad views shown. Any entries after that moment will not be entered to win a prize.
